Lots of pages!

I am so in love with Blogger right now!  I've been looking for a way to add information about my services to my blog.  That's why the "pages" option is such a dream come true.  As you can see, you no longer need to visit my website to sign up for the newsletter or to inquire about parties, wholesale, custom, and side projects.  Heck, you can even shop from my blog.  I mean, really, who even needs a website anymore? (-;

Being a kid

My husband loves video games.  But not new video games.  He loves the old school, grey Nintendo.  Over the past 3 years, I can't tell you how many Tetris Parties we have hosted.  If you don't know what its like to play Tetris 2 with Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker as a soundtrack, you must find a way to experience it.

Recently, though, we've been blowing through Crash Bandicoot 2 on the barely less old school PlayStation.  Over the last week or so, our video game adventures have been our quality time.  And frankly, I've really enjoyed it.  On most levels, I suck pretty bad.  But, on two final worlds, I have been the one to pass us through.  How's that for teamwork?

When he brought the game out last weekend, I was almost instantly captivated.  I remember seeing the commercials for Crash and wishing so badly that someone I knew had the game.  Really, who can forget the clever, transparent blue Crash floating into oblivion with his angel wings when you kill him?

Would you believe that Crash would fulfill a dream for both me and my husband?  After he laughed at my disclosure of my intense desire to play this particular game all the way into high school, he then admitted that he too had wished for someone to play it with him.  Now, years later, we both got our wish!

I see spring!

I see it.  Its just around the corner.  Its flirting with me as the weather daily changes from briskly bright to cozy cold and back again.  Even still, I can see it.  Its so close I can almost touch it.  While we're waiting for it to make up it's mind, consider how you see spring by checking out Scoutie Girl.

This is how I see spring.  I see it with ornate sterling chain, mismatched baroque pearls, sheer & faceted aquamarine, and demure fluorite.  How do you see spring?

Black & White

In the last 48 hours, I have gone black & white crazy.  Spring has come upon us and and I should be bright color crazy.  But, alas, black & white is all I can see right now.  Maybe its the absolutely gorgeous glitter encrusted tulle that I got last week. Or maybe it was when I put my laundry away today and saw my black sequin sprinkled top that I wore for NYE this past winter.  Or,  I suppose it could have been the necklace that I threw together before a Christmas party and has since inspired numerous spin off designs since it's creation.

No matter, its all about black & white.  All about.

The Goal Line

For almost 3 months now, I've had the goal of getting my wholesale packets in order so that I can start drumming up wholesale clients again.  This has been such a daunting task... and I wonder sometimes if it will ever actually happen.

About the time I got really serious about wanting to pursue wholesale clients, I got this crazy whim to start a local Etsy team.  I'll be honest, I don't think I expected it to actually take off.  I was surprised when people replied to my emails and told me it was a good idea.  I was even more surprised, though, when we had our first meeting and people showed up.  Now, if you're part of the team, don't be scared.  I love my team and I'm beyond thankful for where we are and where we're going.  My point, though, is that I shifted my focus from something I've wanted to do for a long time to something else that I've wanted to do for a long time.  I made a choice and threw all of my creative efforts into something that was just begging to happen.

Now that our amazing team is up and running, I can begin, again, to refocus on my desire to do wholesale business.  I've been working solidly on hairpiece designs  for the past few weeks as that will be my main focus when courting businesses.  However, I'm pleased to say that I found myself a dash of inspiration today and was able to develop some new jewelry designs.  Ideally, I had hoped to have a mixture of both and I think I'll be able to do just that.

The photo is one of the designs that I was working on today.  It's made of sterling silver, baroque pearls, aquamarine, and fluorite.  So perfect for this time of year!

Silk

I stopped by The Fabulous Fabric Shop yesterday and was utterly happy about what I saw.  Beyond the ocean blue walls and classic black & white fashion photos, I saw an exquisite eye for lovely things.  Renee, the owner, is an absolute gem!  She is gracious, bright, and possesses a sincere love of creative things.

While I was there, I deliberated over about 4 different colors of silk charmeuse.  I finally settled on an airy turquoise and a vivid, springy chartreuse.  Tell me what you think about my first project with my delectable material...

Some days...

Some days are just hard.  You can't necessarily explain why they are hard.  You just know that they are hard.  And today just feels hard.  Or, maybe I'm the one that feels hard and that's why everything else is hard...

I just need to go into the deep places where there is no light for a little bit.  I need to be protected and quieted and written on.  I need to visit another place where time and space do not pull rank.  I need to see the place where imagination was birthed and creativity is not a concept.  I need to hear secrets that cannot be conceived and touch things that do not exist.

I need a new perspective today...

I Confess, It's a Mess!

It seems every time I'm getting ready to blog nowadays, It's about hairpieces rather than jewelry.  Are you noticing a pattern too?

The coque feathers and organza are for a custom order for a very adorable girl tying the knot this coming May.  Her colors are blue and black.  I'm making 5 hairpieces for her maids.

The Caribbean Blue was a great choice for bridesmaids this spring as the color is absolutely everywhere!  When I get them all whipped up, I might even sell a few myself.  Be on the lookout!

I also just thought I'd show off my very organized work table as I'm gearing up for my wholesale line of hairpieces.  I've been laboring over designs, photos, and yeah...

I should probably be ashamed of myself, but I'm not.  I think it looks like I'm extremely fastidious in my work when things are such a mess. Don't you think?

If only I knew where to find things...

The Husband's Business

I spell and my husband does math. I'm administrative and he's, well, not. I fly by the seat of my pants and he has ever present urges to plan down to the last, itty bitty detail.

Needless to say, I'm helping him restructure his business. I won't lie, we usually fight during these brainstorming events. We like to do things so differently, it's a miracle we decided on the same day to get married!

Oh well, he does help me every time I need some muscle to get me set up and torn down for an event. He also gives input when I ask if a new design is sell-able.

I guess I should probably suck up my "I'm right - all the time" attitude and help him structure his business the way he wants to do it. Sigh.
