This is how we do it...

Yesterday, Danny and I got to hear baby's heartbeat.  It sounded like a galloping horse deep in my belly.  We didn't realize that was baby until our midwife pointed it out.  I think it finally feels REAL now.  Yes, I'm moving right along.  I've already had and conquered nausea.  I already feel baby bump around.  I have a very small potbelly.  But it didn't really, fully, and wholly hit me until yesterday I think.

We also got to meet our midwife yesterday.  We found out that she goes to IHOP and I think she's amazing.  We toured the birthing center too.  They have 6 rooms, all of which are themed differently and quite festive.  We headed back home from our appointment knowing that the heart of God was very much involved with the way in which we stumbled upon that place.  Suddenly, a load has been lifted off of my shoulders and I'm content again knowing that all things work together for good.

On a similar note, I'm totally in love with this Natural Organic Teething Toy from littlealouette on Etsy right now.  It's so dang cute!    

Its a ...!

Well haven't I just been absolutely horrible at blogging lately?  Between the Oh!Carousel project, ReddingHandmade, and the fact that I'm now about 12 weeks preggo... I've not had much time for this little guilty pleasure. 

Yes, you heard me right. I'm preggo!  Yes, I'm terribly excited and yes, I'm hugely nauseated.  Thankfully, as I round the final corner of my first trimester, I think the hormones are starting to level out a tad.  I'm less inclined to take 3 hour naps twice a day.  I'm starting to eat a little more than fresh berries on Grape Nuts twice a day.  I might even be starting to show a little. 

As for the traditional questions that are always posed when a new baby is the topic at hand, here are the details:

• No, we will not be finding out if its a boy or a girl.
• No, I haven't started taking weekly belly bump progress reports yet.
• Yes, we have names picked out.  Daniel is picking if its a boy and I'm picking if its a girl.  And we're not telling each other in advance.

AHHHHHHHHHH!  We're having a baby!

Baby Hair

I recently did some undeniably sweet hair pieces for a custom baby order. All i have to say is, it was a huge task! I did not realize that I basically had to design an entirely new item. I thought, hair pieces are hair pieces. It'll be just like the combs and the little kid snappers that I've already done. I was SO wrong. Not only do you have the obvious issue of mini version for baby, but you also have the durability issue. And, the backs still need to be pretty in case baby keenly removes it from her hair and now its on the floor upside down. It must be pretty and uber durable.

I will say, despite the new problems to solve, I've really enjoyed doing this project. Throughout it, I found a myriad of new inspiration and possibilities for my business. I did a few different designs and realized that some were a little more delicate than others. Out of about 4 designs, these are the two that I finally decided on.
